Connected but to What?

Just came across this study from the Children and Nature Network:
The average young American now spends practically every waking minute — except for the time in school — using a smart phone, computer, television or other electronic device, according to a new study from the Kaiser Family Foundation.Read more about the study by clicking here.
Those ages 8 to 18 spend more than seven and a half hours a day with such devices, compared with less than six and a half hours five years ago, when the study was last conducted. And that does not count the hour and a half that youths spend texting, or the half-hour they talk on their cellphones.
In related news, the No Child Left Inside Act that is reportedly in the President's Budget.

What's up with the blog?
This spring, I am looking forward to family and friends visiting as well as making a shift to live out on the western edge of camp to conduct my own primitive living experience for the last 10 weeks of school. Maybe then I'll be able to offer some reflections... come to think of it, since it is a primitive living experience then I may not be posting.....
Stay tuned.....
