After nearly two months of writing and recording, I am finally honing in on my sound. Though I can rock out with the best of them, I am finding that my most original songs are those that are acoustically-driven, nature oriented themes with a sound that is a cross between Goo Goo Dolls and the Americana music like the more recent Nickel Creek stuff.
And the important part is that I have finally found my vocal (baritone) range for all the songs as well. I was struggling with this about 2 or 3 weeks ago, feeling like I was singing everything too high. So now, I am finishing the songs I have and polishing them up so that I can start playing some local venues in the coming weeks.
